My beautiful cousin and best friend is engaged. (She's getting married the day after I am!)
We took photos really quick for fun, but I loved the way they turned out.

How to get the most out of your tan

Monday, March 31, 2014

The best feeling is the evening after you've been at the beach all day. Your skin is still warm, you have a few new freckles on your cheeks, tanlines (hopefully the good kind), you've just showered. No need for make up because you got some au natural blush on.

Summer is so close and since I am on Oahu, summer has never left.
So, as I am listening to summertime by will smith.. let me give you a few tips on how to get bronze.

These are no-brainers--but I see so many red lobsters walking around I figured I would do you beezies a favor.

1. Sunscreen--even if you want to get color, you can't skip sunscreen. I know that we're supposed to apply nothing less than 30, but I like my 15 SPF and I put it on every time I get out of the water. Don't forget the tops of your hands, your neck, and your lips.

I love this brand bc it's paraben free and smells like ice cream

2. Always stay hydrated. Your skin is losing so much moisture by going out in the sun. Don't forget water and drink it often, at the beach, afterwards, before you go to bed, when you wake up. Seriously, this will help keep you from burning in the long run.

3. To keep your hair from drying out and getting all crusty, it's really helpful to rinse off with fresh water after you get out of the ocean. The ocean is so salty and it really damages hair. That mixed with the harsh sun will kill it. I like to bring a leave in conditioner with me to the beach so that after I get out of the water, I can put it in. When you shower off later, your hair will feel so soft and you won't even need a brush.

4. After you're done at the beach and have showered, put on after-sun lotion. There's a bunch that you can get at Walmart or where ever. I personally like the 'Save A Tan' lotion that you can get here. It's aloe mixed with moisturizer to keep your tan lasting forever. I've gotten some major sun this past weekend and every night I put on this lotion and the next morning, my pink skin turns brown.

5. Don't try and get your tan all in one day. It usually takes a few days. Get a gradual tan, that will last the longest and be the least painful as well.

6. Take cold showers. Hot showers dehydrate you but cool showers help soothe your skin especially after a long day at the beach.

20 Things to do when you are in a crappy mood

Saturday, March 15, 2014

1. Have a really hot, long shower. Cry if you need to. Sit on the ground. Feel sorry for yourself. Let the steam soak into your skin. Let the hot water wash your face clean. But the moment you turn off that water, you are done feeling sorry for yourself. Make a decision to move on from that sadness.
2. Clean. I know, cleaning is boring and annoying - but how about that feeling you get when you are finished? The smell of the vacuum. That feeling of accomplishment? Who knows, you might even find money along the way. Totally worth it. It’s like starting with a clean slate.
3. Call a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while. If your first choice doesn’t pick up, choose someone else. Ask them all about how their lives are going and tell them about yours. Not only will it take your mind off whatever crappy thing you have been plagued by, but you will laugh with them! Laughing triggers endorphins and endorphins make you happy!
4. Go for a run or a walk. This get’s your endorphins and dopamine going crazy. You will get more energy and more happiness just because the chemicals in your body are running around!
5. Stop and take it all in. Walking in the night? Stop and look at the stars. Breathe in the cold air. Feel alive.
6. Stop whining. Ever heard the saying “love life and life will love you back”? Or, the idea of the power of attraction? It’s true! If you sit around saying “why me, waaaaa waaaa” then bad things will happen to you. You’re already defeated. If you start saying, “I will be happy, I will accomplish my ambitions, I will find love, I do look amazing, I am a great friend” etc., then not only will you start to believe them but you will be amazed at what amazing things start to happen.
7. Drink tea. This always works. Not a tea fan? Try hot water with a slice of lemon and some agave syrup.
8. Make a conscious decision to stop holding certain grudges. We all have people we have held grudges on in the past. Let them go. If you feel like you owe this person an apology, don’t be too proud. Send them a sincere apology. Sincerity is in the intent, so even if it’s a 2 sentence apology - as long as you mean it it’s worth it.
9. Cook some really nice, warm food. Stimulate your taste buds with anything as simple as two minute noodles or as lavish as a three course garlic bread, pasta bake, chocolate mousse triple combo.
10. Write down a list of goals to achieve for the week. As simple as “buy insect repellent” or as large as “jog for 25 minutes non stop” and tick them off when they’re done. You will feel very accomplished and that alone will help pep up your mood!
11. Go for a drive. Get out of town. Listen to your favorite songs. Forget what happened. You don't need a destination, just get in your car and go.
12. Get a haircut, get your nails done, fix your hair, do your makeup, brush your teeth. When you look good, you feel good. Sometimes it's just getting ready, even if you are not going anywhere, that will inspire you to go out and feel better.
13. Lay in bed and watch your favorite movie. Movies are perfect because there is one for every mood you are in. If you're mad, watch something funny. If you're sad, watch a dramatic chick flick. If you're bored, always watch Tron. (My personal favorite)
14. Read a book. I've suggested a few good books on my blog post a few dates back. If you don't know what to read, go for the classics: Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, Huckleberry Finn, Go Ask Alice, The Giver.
15. Bake something. Brownies, cookies, your grandma's recipe that you could never duplicate. Try to bake something. Get your mind off of your worries and in about an hour you will have a delicious treat.
16. Online Shopping! This one is a must. I don't usually buy things online though. I like to look through the sales, fill up my cart until I read about $300 and then I'll exit out. Just like that.
17. Send an email or a hand written letter. I usually don't send thoughtful emails or letters to anyone but when I am feeling especially down, it feels good email someone important to me and tell them how awesome they are. Something unexpected and something that takes such little effort can really go a long way.
18. If possible, go shopping. Grocery shopping, clothes shopping, shoe shopping, anything! Retail therapy is alive and well. No amount of shopping can be more expensive than a therapist. (maybe)
19. Draw something. There is nothing more rewarding than throwing yourself into some creative work and in the end, you either have a beautiful masterpiece or a horrible artwork. You let out some energy and you were so focused on art that you will forget your crappy feelings.
20. ...
The first ten have been ripped off of tumblr. Some genius wrote it and I added my own 10 afterwards. I left number 20 open (not because I couldn't think of one...) but because you should fill it out for yourself. Do what makes you happy!

I have been missing...
I am not blogging anymore. I am so busy but not busy at all at the same time.
This blog has been declining with views and I hope you guys haven't given up on me. Not yet at least.

Here's a list of five unusual things that you may not know about me.

1. I am super scared of fish. When I was seven, I begged my dad not to make me float down the lazy river at Xcaret in Mexico. My grandma claimed that she had fish kissing her legs and I cried the whole time while clinging to my dad.

2. When I was little I lived in Japan and I could speak Japanese and English. I forgot all the Japanese when I turned five and moved to Texas.

3. I have had Xanga, Myspace, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger, LinkedIn, Google+, pretty much everything. I like social media. I think it's going to be useful to know in the future.

4. My favorite place to visit is Shibuya, Tokyo. I could walk around all day by myself. I have. And it was so great.

5. I planned on getting married at 25 when I had a career and my life all together. My life is together because I am getting married. I had it backwards this whole time.
